The Ripley’s team also filled her dressing room with an array of Monroe and John F. Kennedy memorabilia.
“We really appreciated her partnership and felt that she was a great partner with Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for us to be able to retell the Marilyn Monroe story to a new generation,” Amanda Joiner, vice president of publishing and licensing for Ripley’s, told Us Weekly on Tuesday, May 3.

“We have 25,000 exhibits in Ripley’s, and when we’re working with partners, we want to show them our quirky side as well – and so that was the gift that we chose to give to her.”

She actually changed into the dress when she arrived at the event, traveling to the event in a black robe. The SKIMS founder then got changed in a special room set up just for her and was then the last person to walk the carpet, building as much momentum for the big reveal as possible.
Monroe famously wore the original look in 1962 when she sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to then-president John F. Kennedy.
Despite losing weight ahead of the Met, Kardashian wasn’t actually able to fit into the gown, which explains why she kept a white fur coat so close to her as she walked the red carpet. In another video shared by the Ripley’s team, the star is seen laughing and squirming into the dress as fitters attempt to smooth the dress over her backside. Watch the video below.
